In the second year of their partnership with Lululemon, Staries was invited to speak at the company's annual Pride Festival in New York City. Leveraging his expertise in Human Rights advocacy and his personal experience as a queer asylum seeker, Staries delivered a powerful and insightful address.

As Staries started her journey back in human rights work, she was given the chance to work for Rainbow Railroad as a Community Mobilization, US intern. Staries established Rainbow Railroad’s partnership database across 10 states, successfully forging collaborations with nonprofits, companies, and a university. By leveraging her network in New York City, she facilitated the effective implementation of the Communities of Care program. Additionally, she played a key role in supporting the mobilization of Communities of Care initiatives in Washington, DC, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.

harm reduction outreach, Safe horizon, New York City
Staries’ first harm reduction-related work. He was actively involved in harm reduction street outreach for homeless and at-risk youth in Manhattan and Brooklyn. His works included participating in Pride events across three boroughs and facilitating support groups at drop-in centers for homeless and in-risk of homelessness youth.

Their second year in a row, they actively advocate for the rights of queer asylum seekers and refugees in New York. They went to Washington DC to talk in-person with Congress members, sharing recommendations of a call to action with the government.

One of the standout achievements in Staries' new journey in New York City was being featured as the central figure in Lululemon’s 2023 Pride campaign. Combining his advocacy expertise and personal story as a queer asylum seeker, the campaign reached Lululemon’s vast audience of over 4.9 million followers on social media.

Trinity Place is a private queer youth shelter in New York City, Staries went to the shelter as their first home when after they arrived in New York City as an asylum seeker. Staries shared their perspective on empowering the queer youth of New York City. Showing how Staries is an example of “Surviving to Thriving”.
